FC Ifeanyi Ubah on Wednesday saw off ABS FC by two unreplied goals to bounce back from the defeat suffered against MFM FC on Sunday. Coach Yaw Preko rejigged the set up with three changes to the side that filed out at the Soccer Temple last Sunday as Adeleye Olamilekan, Tony Msonter and Yaya Kone came in for Adou Blaise, Elu Wilson and Osanga King.
The game started on a ferocious note as both teams came out of the blocks to dictate their coaches tactics on to the game in what was a very physical encounter from start to finish decided by two goals in each half by the Ivorian duo of Yaya Kone in the first and Seka Pascal in the second stanza.
The first half was very tense as both sides tried to dominate the game and win the midfield battle and it seemed like the Ilorin side were getting the best out of the game not until a corner kick swung in by Bright Onyedikachi which was nodded goal wards by defender Eze Stephen was headed out by Emmanuel Ugbo for the visitors then Seka Pascal rifled a shot from the rebound which was then parried away by Goalkeeper Nurudeen Mudashir with a well positioned Yaya Kone finishing off via a well lobbed ball into the net for the curtain raiser giving the Anambra Warriors the initiative.
The entertaining half still had near chances as Goalkeeper Mudashir twice saved goal bound efforts from Seka Pascal and Adeleye Olamilekan while Joseph Maamo’s effort was inches wide just like that of Samuel Oyedeji of ABS earlier in the half.
The second half began in a similar fashion like the first and had lots of near misses. In the 52nd minute ABS had an opportunity to score from a corner kick as Samuel Oladeji’s cross was poorly finished by defender Ernest Governor who was unmarked and should have done better with his headed effort. The lone goal in the half and the second of the tense encounter came as a result of beautiful play by Kone Yaya who created space and fed an overlapping Osia Felix a through ball who then gave a low cross for Seka Pascal to volley in for the winner as ABS tried to get a goal of their own in the ensuing minutes but were stopped occasionally by the brilliant central defensive partnership of Adeleye and Eze as the NPFL Galacticos ended the game with another clean sheet.
