FC Ifeanyi Ubah took on Plateau United in Match Day 14 of the 2017/2018 Nigerian Professional Football League at the FC Ifeanyi Ubah International Stadium looking to return to winning ways against the reigning and defending champions.
Coach Ladan Bosso retained a large crop of the side that lost in Maiduguri in the previous match day with Sodiq Suraj handed his debut appearance ahead of Osia Felix while Awazie Ekene and Chijioke Alakwe came in for Sadiq Abdulrazak and Pete Lector respectively
The visitors kicked off proceedings initiating the first attacking move but then an Interception by the returning Traore Issif from a King Osanga cutback spurred a swift counter from the Warriors side of the divide that led to a throw in on the far right which Sodiq Suraj took and Issif himself at the right place and right time headed the ball home but then the referee chalked off the goal in the 4th minute of the game after having a word with his assistant.
Moments later the Anambra Warriors were on rampage with foray of attacking moves which could have gone anyway with Ekene Awazie narrowly missing two attempts that beat Goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye but veered off target and then Ajiboye himself proved his mettle making saves from efforts by Yaya Kone, Ekene Awazie and Patrick Ikeokwu as the half seemed like a goal would be lacking.
The encounter turned on its head two minutes from the break when Wasiu Jimoh delivered a footie to Yaya Kone who brilliantly took on and dribbled his way through a sea of defenders and struck a fine, remarkable drive into the bottom right corner of the goal to send the fortress into ecstasy with the NPFL Galacticos smiling into the dressing room ahead of the champions.
The second period kicked off quite in a similar fashion like the first with lethal forward Chijioke Alaekwe dictating play although Plateau United had their own moments in the early exchanges of the half.
In the 55th minute, Alaekwe turned provider with an assist for the second goal after he fed Kone with the ball aiding the talisman who saw off the challenge from his markers and placing his ball beyond the reach of Goalkeeper Ajiboye into the bottom right corner to double the lead of the Anambra Warriors.
In the 62nd minute Alaekwe was once again behind the third goal after he was fouled by Hamisu Sule in the penalty box as Ivorian Yaya Kone sent Goalkeeper Ajiboye the wrong way with his left footed effort from the spot into the bottom right corner to all but seal victory. There was a late drama as Tosin Omoyele saw his spot kick saved by Goalkeeper Tambe Charles in the 89th minute and this game also saw the return of the hitman Godwin Obaje making his return from an injury that kept him out of the past eight games in the NPFL.
FC IFEANYI UBAH 3 (KONE YAYA- 43′, 55′, 64′)

Next up for the Warriors who are now 11th on the log with 18 points is a trip to Kano to face the Masu Gida in Match Day 15.
