FC Ifeanyi Ubah took on Wikki Tourists in a matchday 25 clash of the ongoing Nigerian Professional Football League season at the FC Ifeanyi Ubah International Stadium Nnewi on Sunday in a feisty, fierce encounter that ended scoreless.
The technical crew made just two changes to the side that lost to Rivers United in the penultimate weekend with Medrano Tamen and Osanga King getting the nod ahead of Egbeta Michael and Bright Onyedikachi.
The game kicked off as a fierce battle in the midfield as both sides tried to outmuscle their opponents in a very entertaining half that saw lots of near misses from both sides especially from Seka Pascal whose shot went inches high off target after a brilliant team effort and connecting passes between he, Osanga and Kone. And Obaje’s effort that struck the side of the net, while Wikki’s Victor Alegbe had his effort deflect off Stephen Eze for a corner kick and Mustapha’s freekick also testing Goalkeeper Bamba who was able to repel the in swinging set piece.
In the second half, the game became more technical and tight as both defences did not make room for goal scoring opportunities thereby chances were few and far between the two sides save for Richard Jonathan’s shot that was well kept out by Bamba and Stephen Eze’s bicycle kick off a corner that was inches high off target as well as the heroics of opposite Shot Stopper Emeka Nwabulu to twice deny the Anambra Warriors, first Seka Pascal’s dazzling freekick was well gathered and then Aggreh’s punted effort towards goal that came about after a bicycle kick pass from Seka as the Yankari Boys escaped the fortress with a lucky draw.
